The philosophy of Mother Tree is based on the amazing work of Suzanne Simard, forest ecologist. Her studies teach about us the interdependence of Trees within a forest. She has discovered that there are Mother Trees within a forest that nourish their young. They quite literally identify their own offspring and send water and nutrients through an underground communication network. Not only do Mother Trees suckle their young (with sugars converted from carbon dioxide), they rearrange their own roots to allow room for them to grow and mature. These strong life-giving trees also send warning signals to their community when dangers of insects or disease are present.
Like trees, we humans are also interdependent and it truly takes a village to bring up a young healthy generation. A strong community breeds healthy adults and healthy children. It is a personal priority and goal to help invigorate individuals and families by offering healing massage, kindness, presence, compassion, and recommendations to other resources and providers who offer the same. Like Mother Trees, we ourselves must be well-nourished to offer nourishment to those around us.
